"Hocus Pocus, Focus!
"

Author's Note/Update Feb. 2026: Hocus Pocus Focus was a poem I wrote after I fainted due to an episode of low blood pressure.  Changing my diet helped tremendously and I'm much better.  It was really just a fluke.

(That said, I wear eye-glass lenses that according to my optometrist are, "a very strong prescription". When I'm tired, have a migraine, or if I'm not wearing my glasses (in the middle of the night, like the night I fainted), I sometimes feel disoriented.  I tried to write something relatable and find that I sound like I was dealing with anxiety, but that isn't my issue.  Just needing glasses can really make an impact on a person. We don't hear about that often, but it's a real issue.)

Bloodline was inspired by The Full Picture: Photo-Poetics as a New Lens for Writing (virtual writing workshop), featuring Dr. Deborah Eve Grayson (Hope at Hand Inc.)
